Well BOGC finally won the American Cheer Power nationals Jackets in Jan of 2007. We took a small break and then attempted to put a team back together. We had about 7-10 girls coming to practices in March and April of 2007. In early May 2007 Coach Denise said that she needed to move on. I, honestly, was ready for a break too but was hanging in there. Continuing the team without her was actually quite horrifying for me (She did so much of the stuff I could not do!) so we decided to call a break. That break is going into its 3rd year.
In the meantime I have a son who is now 12 and DYING to cheer. He wants another jacket!
Recently I found an opportunity that will def allow me to coach competitively again and may or may not ressurect BOGC. I am waiting to hear back from the director of the program and get her input on weather or not using the BOGC name, uniforms and colors is going to be a go. Ive talked to some of the girls and they are all for it.
This is what we have so far. Weather we use BOGC name and colors or go with the Blue/Blue theme of the Mavericks.
1. This team will be made up entirely of christian homeschoolers.
2. beginning on Monday November 9th from 2-3 we will have stunt practice. The next week, tumbling, alternating the two. Practices are at the Conroe Rec center.
3. In early 2010 we will begin putting together a team or teams depending on how many girls we have and their experience levels. Shortly after team formation we will begin learning our routine.
4. My cheer mixes are composed mostly of christian music.
5. We never use any kind of questionable or suggestive moves in our routines.
6. In the past years at BOGC each girl was able to cheer for under 1000$ a year. That was when we had small coaching fees and gym fees. Now that both of those have been waived I look for the cost to be <500$ for the year. More on that to come later.
7. We are planning on attending 2-4 regional competitions that will be one a month fro September 2010 - January 2010. Regionals usually cost between 25-45$ each.
8. We may or may not attend a national competition. They are usually 75-150$ (the girls usually get a great gift). They are two day competitions and if they win they get leather jackets that say National Champion.
9. We are planning 4 hours of practice a week. I prefer ONE DAY! I do not like driving twice a week for 2 hours practices. BOGC used to practice on Friday nights. I am open to middle of the week or sunday afternoons. Saturday nights have also been mentined. Drop off him/her off and go on a date night!
10. There will be more practices called closer to competition time.
11. The practice right before a competition is always manditory.
That is all I can think of right now.
